Hairspray Timeline
Okay, so just to clear up any confusion, mine or others', I typed up a timeline for my Hairspray fic, Twist and Shout. Where I don't have a fic entry for a given day, I either left the day blank or put in a song title from the movie - in the latter case, these are in italics. The titles of fics not posted yet are tentative, particularly in the case of those that aren't written yet.

And yes, the days of the week are appropriate for 1962. You may now address me as Her Royal Highness, The Queen of All Nerds.

Twist and Shout Timeline:

1958:
Skinny White Boy

Monday April 30:
Good Morning Baltimore
Nicest Kids in Town

(The newspaper at the beginning of the movie says May 3, 1963, but that's a Wednesday, and it's followed by a full week of classes. For the purpose of retconning, we're going to say the movie starts on April 30. And the headline of the paper is for something that didn't happen until September, so I feel totally justified in monkeying around to make it fit.)

Tuesday May 1:
It Takes Two

Wednesday May 2:
Tex Avery's Wolf
Bells
A Perfect Lady

Thursday May 3:
At the Hop
Makeover

Friday May 4:
Accusation
Mystery Girl
And Now Tracy!
Man Talk
Sweet Dreams

Saturday May 5:
Corny talks to Tracy's parents (not shown)

Monday, May 7:
Breakfast
A Real Exclusive Club
Doowop Angels

Tuesday, May 8:
The Arrangement
Velma

Monday, May 14:
Special Request
Tutoring

Thursday, May 17:
Diner
White Knight

Monday, May 21:
Dynamites
Waltz

Tuesday, May 22:
The Name

Wednesday, May 23:
Sex Ed
Girl Talk
Lady's Choice
Welcome to the Sixties

Thursday, May 24:
Choice Explanation
Spokesgirl

Tuesday, May 29:
Negro Day
Heartbreak

Wednesday, May 30:
You Don't Know Me

Thursday, May 31:
Desperation
Kiss My Ass
Mike
Screwing Up

Friday, June 1:
I Know Where I've Been
(Taking fits here.)

Saturday, June 2:
It's Hairspray
You Can't Stop the Beat

*bows* Hee! Research for a fic is a good thing. As soon as I actually get a moment to watch the movie, I'll read the fic. You have me very intrigued about the entire fandom.

I've mentioned the 12 pages of notes, yes? And not everything I've noted is in there, since I pretty much stopped updating it.

I'm very dedicated to getting the canon right before I start writing fic. Can you tell?

I understand completely! I have a stack of notebooks with information for all the fics I've even considered writing- some of them down to the weather reports. Quality research means no 'Dumbledor' or 'Zambini' which is golden.

It's so weird to see that icon and be all, "Noooooooooooo! P/L is BAD! ... Oh, wait, it's just the actors in different roles. Never mind."

Also, *is loved*

I am so very much an uber nerd. I've been tempted a couple of times to offer help in terms of setting to the world at large, but I don't know how to do it without sounding condescending.

You are a total dork, she says casually shoving the 43+ pages of notes on London in the 1880s she compiled for an overresearched, unfinished LXG fic under her couch.

At least I'm a dork in good company.

I heart your icon so hard. It fills me with the kind of love that can only be expressed through complex interpretive dance.

er. Hi! I actually just finished reading this a week or so ago and I was wondering, are you done with this? I mean, it's brilliant and a shame if you've lost the drive. I just wanted to ask. I'm sure there are plenty more like me that would really love if you could work on this. As a writer, I understand losing love in a story. But I just wanted to let you know that this is a really lovely fiction and I hope you work on it again. Thanks.

hello, just wanted to drop a line and let you know how much I enjoy Twist and Shout. Every time I watch the movie, I have to reread your story! I hope you get inspired to finish it.

Hello! Just popping over to mention that I've read your fic and totally adored it. I love your characterizations of Corny and Maybelle especially. I'd thought there was something between them the first time I saw the movie. I hope real life settles down for you soon so you can hopefully be inspired to write more.

Though, shouldn't 'Taking' technically belong on May 31? Since it's after Run and Tell That and before I Know Where I've Been? (BTW, I love that Corny wanted to march, too, but Maybelle made it clear to him that she would not be pleased if he showed up)

I need Hairspray icons. Stat.

Note to self: Don't comment to journals at 1:00 AM. Go to bed instead
